Mr. Iannucci - Room 233“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go...”
- Dr. Seuss
Curriculum: Life Science is the study of living things. Topics covered include life characteristics, cells, heredity, life over time, diversity of organisms and ecosystems. The main emphasis of this course is to introduce students to a wide range of life science vocabulary, concepts, skills and activities that will instill a life-long interest in science. Course work will involve article readings, assignments, hands-on experiments and activities, quizzes, tests, journal writing, and in-school and at-home projects.
Students acquire fundamental concepts and principles in biological sciences using scientific inquiry and problem solving skills. Laboratory sections provide for hands on experiences and are an integral learning accompaniment to this and any science course. Labs should occur at approximately the rate of one per week. Other learning activities include videos, computer internet studies, anatomical models, charts and specimens for dissection.
