Health and Physical Education
The Board of Education and the Baldwin Union Free School District believe that Physical Education is an important component of a student's overall educational process. The responsibility of the Physical Education program is to provide students with the opportunities to achieve development of skills, knowledge and attitude that will allow them to attain optimal quality of life and well-being. Activities should be provided which allow the individual students to meet their full potential while permitting choices related to their physical fitness and well-being. These same activities will allow the development of a positive attitude and desire to participate in lifetime fitness activities.
Additionally, Baldwin Union Free School District's health curriculum is designed to meet the needs of our community while following New York State Education Regulations and the CDC (Center for Disease Control) recommended health topics.
The following courses are conducted utilizing appropriate classes and specially designed courses of study for students. The content of the program is geared to involve students in individual and dual sports activities in an effort to foster lifetime sports participation and a healthy lifestyle. The goal of the program is to develop the individual aspect of growth – physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. Classes meet on day A or day B.
