Digital Tools to Support Students as Producers

Where: Baldwin Middle School Library
Description: There are a variety of digital tools available to help students document their learning, demonstrate understanding, and produce engaging content. These digital tools help students share their knowledge on a specific topic in multidimensional projects that encourage research, communication, and collaboration. During this in-service course, teachers will learn how to use digital tools to help students produce content including comics and posters, videos, interactive presentations, and podcasts.

Overview of the Yale RULER Program - 2/6/2023
When: Monday, February 6, 2023 - 3:30pm-5:30pm
Where: Plaza Elementary School, Room 113
Description: The Yale RULER program is the evidence-based approach to social and emotional learning (SEL) that is used in the Baldwin Elementary school classrooms. RULER is an acronym for the five skills of emotional intelligence (recognizing, understanding, labeling, expressing, and regulating) During this workshop, teachers will learn about the Mood Meter and various ways to use it in the classroom. Teachers will also learn how to create a Class Charter. Teachers will learn about the Meta Moment and Blueprint and the ways they are used in various classrooms in elementary school. These four tools encompass the development of RULER skills in the classroom.

Creating Safer Spaces for LGBTQ Students
When: Monday, March 13, 2023 - 4:30pm-7:30pm

Description: This seminar encourages discussions and provides a deeper awareness of the supports needed for LGBTQ students to thrive. We will review national statistics from GLSEN's National School Climate Survey, share resources and tools for creating an inclusive school environment, and focus on how educators can create classrooms free of bullying and harassment for LGBTQ students.
