Mr. John Buglione
Mr. John Buglione graduated Summa Cum Laude from Queens College with a double major in History and Sociology, and was the 1997 New York State recipient of the James Madison Memorial Fellowship issued by the United States Congress. He did his graduate work at Columbia University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Master’s Degree in American Studies. At Columbia, Mr. Buglione studied with renowned historians such as Eric Foner, Alan Brinkley, and Kenneth Jackson. After graduating in 2000, Mr. Buglione began teaching in the History Department at Baldwin Senior High School. He has taught courses at all levels and in all disciplines, but for the past 10 years most of his course load has been in AP US History and the Sociology elective course. He currently resides in Queens with his wife Maria and two children Isabella and Alexander.
“I have had the privilege and pleasure of working in the Baldwin community for the past 15 years and I feel grateful and indebted to all the supportive administrators, colleagues, families, and students who have helped me grow as an educator. I am most proud of having former students who have filled the halls of elite universities and have gone on to distinguished academic and professional careers. My goal has always been to treat every student as an intellectual, and to make every class that I teach mirror the scholarship and rigor of those taught in the Ivy League.”
This summer, I was proud to act as a consultant to State Senator Todd Kaminsky on his Bill which would mandate that teachers specifically discuss the meaning of symbols of hate in the classroom, in an effort to counteract the increasing examples of hate speech being found on Long Island.
