Principles of the Asian Physical Arts

This class is structured around the principles of the Asian physical arts. The exercises focus on connecting the mind and body through awareness of the breath and alignment.  The movements are done slowly to develop flexibility and balance so that the student gains a greater awareness of the interconnectivity of the body. First, through the practice of Standing Meditation, WuJi, we learn to let go of any excess tension, increasing our ability to relax our minds and bodies. QiGong exercises have been described as Chinese yoga. They enable the practitioner to move energy through the body's meridian system. In addition, the class will introduce some simple Tai Chi forms.

    Instructor- Richard Pate
