Today Ms. Kathleen Rice, U.S. Representative, addressed Ms. Zucker's Government and Politics students in the BHS Library.  The students had the opportunity to hear about her experiences as Nassau County's first female District Attorney and her current experience in the U.S. Congress.  All in attendance benefitted from this valuable session.

  • Thanksgiving in the LMC

Posted by Christine Cassidy on 11/25/2015

We celebrated Thanksgiving a day early in the library! Students came in to listen to Thank You, Sarah by Laurie Halse Anderson and learned how one woman fought to have Thanksgiving become an official National holiday! I am so glad she did! Students also had a great time making a turkey craft and enjoying some munchkins!

  • Speed Booking in the Library

Posted by Christine Cassidy on 11/6/2015

Finding the right book is like finding the right person! There is a book for everyone! Life is too short to read books you don't like!

Ms. Pettinato's 11th grade ELA classes came in the library today to participate in a Speed Booking activity! Students had two minutes to share what they like or did not like about a book they read. Here is what some of the students had to say:

"This was a pretty interesting way to learn about books."

"This was a great idea and I liked talking to new people that I have never spoken to."

"Good idea. I had an opportunity to hear other people's views about the books we read."

The classes had so much fun they have asked to do this again!
