Degrees and Certifications:
I am extremely happy to be teaching the 15:1 kindergarten class at Plaza Elementary! I’ve been teaching since I was in 7th grade, if you count being Captain and Choreographer of our undefeated award winning Kickline Teams for Smithtown Schools. Upon graduating from high school, I continued to teach dance to children of all ages, both competitively and recreationally, in numerous genres of dance styles, as I acquired my teaching degrees in both General (Nursery -6th grade) and Special Education (K-12). This was extremely important, because it taught me how to differentiate and modify curriculum while learning classroom management and behavioral skills. I also worked as a teaching aide in a developmental preschool. Upon receiving my teaching degree, I returned to teaching at a developmental preschool as a head teacher. In 2003, I began teaching at Baldwin Middle School. Next, I spent over a decade teaching multiple grade levels at Meadow Elementary (both as a self-contained special education teacher and as the special education teacher in our first co-teach classes). This will be my fifth year teaching the 15:1 kindergarten class at Plaza.
