    WEEK #2 MARCH 23-27

    HELLO ARTISTS, WELCOME BACK!

I hope you had a fun weekend with your loved ones:) I took a nice long nature walk with my daughters and my 2 fur son's, Frankie and Mason- my dogs.  They're so very happy that we are spending lots of time home with them. We are teaching them new tricks. Mason can now roll over and Frankie... well he's older and not so flexible so he does the usual "SIT" and "GIVE ME YOUR PAW"-- anything for a treat.

Below you will find an assignment for each grade. Complete your grade level assignment for the week. Each week I will be assigning new art activities for you. I will be collecting these assignments when we return to school. Have fun and I look forward to seeing all of your beautiful artwork!

    KINDERGARTEN-

Remember our friend ROY G. BIV? What does ROY  help us remember? You got it...the colors of the rainbow. Your assignment this week is to create a beautiful rainbow masterpiece. *Masterpiece is the fancy way to say your very best work of art. You can use crayon, marker, paint or whatever you have. Your masterpiece can be the size of a regular sheet of paper or very big. When you are done proudly display your artwork in your front window or door of your home for all to see.  You are about to brighten someone's day. Here's the really exciting part.... Lots of kids in Baldwin are decorating their windows with cool artwork too!! Now, every time you go out for a walk, you can try to find the homes with rainbows. Have fun!!!

NOTE TO PARENTS* To make things easier, there are even Google Maps dedicated to the idea, showing all the participating homes nearby. Members of the community are able to access the map and add their property to it if desired.

    FOURTH GRADE-

This is one of my favorite art styles because it is bright, fun, happy and very colorful! I think that you will love it too. You are going to create a self portrait in the style of a famous artist- ROMERO BRITO. You will need a pencil, crayons, markers and paper. Of course if you don't have these supplies be creative and substitute. RELAX AND HAVE FUN!

Romero Britto (born October 6, 1963) is a Brazilian artist, painter, and sculptor. He combines elements of cubism , pop art and graffiti painting in his work, using vibrant colors and bold patterns as a visual expression of hope, dreams and happiness.

    FIFTH GRADE-

What do you see? A vase? A chalice or perhaps two people facing each other? Op Art can trick the eye!

Image result for Define op Art for kids

Op art is short for 'optical art'. The word optical is used to describe things that relate to how we see. Have you seen an optical Illusion before? Op art works in a similar way. Artists use shapes, colors and patterns in special ways to create images that look as if they are moving or blurring.
