Nominating Petitions for Board Candidates
The Annual School Budget Vote and Election will take place on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
Board Election: Open Seats
Baldwin Union Free School District
This year, there are two board of education seats to be filled at the May 19, 2026 annual budget vote and election:
- One seat is for a full three (3) year term from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2029.
- The second seat is for the balance of an unexpired term from May 19, 2026 to June 30, 2027.
The candidate receiving the largest number of votes will be elected to the longer term: July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2029
The candidate receiving the second most votes will be elected to the shorter term: May 19, 2026 to June 30, 2027
Baldwin Public Library
There is one library board member seat up for re-election this year.
Qualifications for the School Board
If you are interested in running you must:
- Be a citizen of the United States of America;
- Be at least eighteen (18) years of age;
- Be able to read and write;
- Be a resident of the Baldwin Union Free School District continuously for one (1) year;
- Not be an employee of the school district;
- Not be a family member of the Board of Education residing in the same household.
Nominating Petitions
Nominating Petitions will be available starting March 10th at the District Office. Please call the District Clerk to make an appointment to pick up a packet or they can be picked up at the monthly board meetings.
Deadline to return the necessary paperwork is Monday, April 20, 2026, 5 pm, District Clerk’s office (960 Hastings Street). You will need to submit each of the documents in the packet pertaining to the position for which you are campaigning. In addition to obtaining the required number of signatures, you must also submit three expenditure forms.
