Welcome to Class 3C
Welcome to Third Grade!
Updates for the 2018-2019 school year...coming very soon!
We are off to a terrific start. So far our class is made up of 15 students (9 boys and 6 girls). We will start off the year learning the procedures and expectations of the classroom and continue to build from that foundation. I hope you had a nice summer. I’m sure you, like me, are ready for a new school year to begin. We will have an opportunity to meet and review my program in full detail on Know Your School Night (), but until then there are a few things you need to know to help us get on the right track.
Homework will be light for the first few days. Most lessons will be a review of second grade for the first week or so. Homework will be assigned Monday through Thursday nights unless there is a holiday. They are now third graders. They are older and more independent. It is the responsibility of your child to learn to pace him/herself and plan their week so that all homework is finished on time. Please take the time to establish good homework routines as well as a set place for your child to do their homework each day. Take the time to exchange phone numbers with a buddy in your child’s class. This way if your child forgets a piece of homework or important notice you can be informed. Regular homework will begin next week.
We love to snack in third grade! This year we have lunch from 11:40-12:40. Time will be set aside for a quick snack in the morning only. Please send in a healthy snack only. Candy, cakes, chocolate, or other sugary foods are not allowed. A good rule of thumb is 'if it comes from the earth, it comes in as snack." If you feel your child needs a drink separate from the water fountain, please send in a CLEARLY LABELED bottle of water only. They can save the juice boxes for lunch. Please keep in mind that due to our very busy schedule, we have a “working” snack, therefore it should not be used for breakfast. Please be sure your child has had a full, healthy meal before they come to school.
When your child is late or absent from school, please send in a note explaining the reason as soon as possible. Please try to get your child to school on time each day. We have so much to accomplish in a very short period of time.
* There is a possibility that our schedule will change. A separate note will be sent home if this is the case.
If you have any questions or concerns at all during the school year, please feel free to contact me at school. The phone number is (516) 434-6700. If I am unavailable, please leave a message and I will return your call as soon as possible. You may also email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
