The Baldwin Public Library provides full reference services and maintains over 160,000 books, 200 periodical and newspaper subscriptions, a DVD/video collection, audiobooks, music CDs, video games and museum passes. The library subscribes to more than 50 premium online resources including downloadable audio and eBooks, live homework help, and access to Newsday and The New York Times back to their first issues. The library also loans e-Readers that are preloaded with popular titles for all ages. Computers with Internet access are available for adults, teens and children, and there is WiFi service throughout the building. Patrons have access to a scanner, fax and microform reader/printer, and residents may access the library's catalog and most online resources from their home computers. Patrons may reserve and renew items from home and pay fines online.
Special services include interlibrary loan, a wide variety of programs for adults, teens and children, and two homework centers - one for children and the other for teens. A newsletter, The Piper, containing program schedules and other timely reminders of library services, is available for email, on the library's website or in the library. The library is accessible to the physically challenged.
The Board of Trustees generally meets the third Wednesday of each month, but please call to verify time and location.
