Elementary art and music are the foundation of an award-winning K-12 Fine and Performing Arts program in the Baldwin School District, which has been named one of the Best Communities for Music Education in 2022. We have received this distinction for several years and remain proud of our rich tradition of music instruction
Elementary students are engaged in aesthetic development in visual arts and music in this configuration:
- Visual Arts - Once a week for K-grade 3 and twice a week for grades 4-5.
- Music - Twice a week for K-grade 3 and once a week for grades 4-5.
Young performers may select band or string instruments, participate in a beginner ensemble, and receive small-group instruction starting in the fourth grade. There are opportunities to display work of young artists in each elementary school and through district and county exhibits.
