Join an Academic Academy!
Baldwin High School is the only high school to offer a four-year Academic Academy program for students in grades 9-12.
The academies provide our students with relevant educational and vocational experiences, leading to the development of strong academics, leadership, communication and career skills. In addition to completing regular academic classes, students take career oriented electives and connect the classroom to the real world of work through:
- Professional Shadow Days
- Internships
- Inter-School, Regional and National Competitions and Challenges
- Co-Curricular Activities
- Extracurricular Clubs and Activities
Over the past 20 years, Baldwin Union Free School District has built robust school-to-career partnerships, many of which only open their doors to Baldwin students. These partners include Northrop Grumman, Citicorp, State Farm Insurance, Mercy Medical Center, Hofstra University, Northwell Health, National Grid, and Molloy College.
Additionally, each Academy boasts an innovative learning space that replicates what the work place will look like for many people in that field. For example, our Business Academy students enjoy some of their classes in our Virtual Enterprise Suite, our Law Academy students take their classes in our very own courtroom, our Medical Academy students meet daily in our simulated hospital room, our New Media Academy students work in an authentic television studio.
