-
Under the leadership of Superintendent Dr. Shari L. Camhi, Baldwin Union Free School District (UFSD) continually focuses on developing programs that incorporate modern-day workforce skills, while preparing students for 2035. Dedicated to closing the achievement gap and ensuring enrichment for all, Dr. Camhi has led the district in successfully creating an educational system that is rigorous, relevant, emphasizes relationships and reaches all learners. Her philosophy is not based on test scores, but instead, creating opportunities and maximizing the potential of every student.
Since 2014, Baldwin UFSD has seen a significant rise in graduation rates, college acceptances, Advanced Placement course participation and results, Regents scores, and a plethora of community partnerships—and this is just the beginning!
The Baldwin Union Free School District's mission is to provide a rigorous and relevant education for all students and to ensure that every student has the opportunity to graduate college, career, and future-ready!
In 2020, for the first time, Baldwin High School was ranked by U.S. News & World Report among the top high schools in the nation and proudly ranking once again in 2021, 2022, and 2023. The school was also designated a Recognition School for 2019-2020 and 2018-2019 by the New York State Education Department, standing alongside some of the highest-ranking school districts in Long Island and New York State. Additionally, Baldwin UFSD was one of just four winners of the Business Council of New York State's inaugural Workforce Innovation Award in 2022—the only K-12 school district to receive this prestigious accolade for Baldwin High School's Academic Academies Program. In 2023, the National School Boards Association (NSBA) recognized the district with a Silver Magna Award.
Superintendent Dr. Shari L. Camhi has been recognized by Education Week as a "Leader To Learn From" for her innovative work in Baldwin and for closing the achievement gap. In addition to her role as Superintendent, she was elected the 2022-2023 president of AASA, the national School Superintendents Association and currently serves as the AASA past president for 2023-2024.
Baldwin High School's graduation rate stands at 99%.
Over the past several years, Baldwin UFSD has successfully created learning opportunities that are based on the theme of “students as producers” and incorporate "creativity, communication, collaboration, critical thinking and civic-mindedness."
