The Baldwin School District follows the transportation guidelines set by New York State Education law. In Baldwin, transportation is provided for resident students attending both public and non-public schools as follows: K-Grade 5 students residing more than 1.5 miles, Grade 6-8 students residing more than 1.5 miles, Grade 9-12 students residing more than 1.5 miles from the school attended, to a maximum of 15 miles.
PLEASE NOTE: Nonpublic transportation deadline extended to April 15
The State Education Department said that it is directing all public school districts to accept all parental requests for transportation to charter and nonpublic schools submitted on or before April 15, 2020, rather than the statutory deadline of April 1.
SED said executive orders issued by the governor represent "a reasonable excuse for a delay under Ed. Law 3635."
The governor’s most recent executive order, No. 202.13, involved delaying school board elections.
