Driver's Education (for Students)

FALL Driver Education Program 2024

Welcome to our FALL 2024 Driving Program 

Our lecture course will be available in-person this year.  

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Students must complete 16 sessions of in-car and 16 sessions of classroom instruction with a passing grade of 65 in each category.  At the end of all 32 sessions (16 car and 16 lectures) students will have received 24 hours of classroom instruction and 24 hours of in-car driving related to "Rules of the Road,” traffic safety concerns, defensive driving, proper handling of a vehicle, parking, driving in traffic and problems of substance abuse as related to driving.

WHAT THE PROGRAM OFFERS

It includes the MV285 Completion Certificate, an insurance reduction to students who qualify and a senior driver license Class D at age 17 upon passing the DMV Road Test.

WHEN ARE THE CLASSES?

Lecture begins on SEPTEMBER10, 2024 and ends on JANUARY 21, 2025.  Driving instruction begins on SEPTEMBER 10, 2024 and ends on JANUARY 25, 2025 

ELIGIBILITY

Students must be 16 years old, must have a Learner Permit before the first class, and must be a student in good standing as per the High School Eligibility Procedures and Student Code of Conduct. Students must reside within the Baldwin Union Free School District.  All applications will be handled on a first come, first served basis.

 HOW TO REGISTER:

Complete the information listed below and submit to the main office no later than SEPTEMBER 4, 2024

Fill out this application and return it with a photocopy of your permit or junior license and copy of your receipt for payment to Patti Sisco in the HS Main Office, Mon-Thurs, 8AM - 3PM.  Acceptance will be on a first come, first serve basis as there are limited seats available.  The following forms must be submitted with this application, or, if indicated, at the conclusion of the semester:

  1. Copy of Car Insurance Declaration Page or ID Card
  2. Copy of NYS Learner’s Permit, DMV-278 Certificate or DJ License
  3. Copy of payment receipt from myschoolbucks.com
  4. Registration form signed by parent/guardian and student
