All in-service courses are FREE.  In-service courses can be used for CTLE hours and salary advancement.   ELL in-service courses can be used to meet the CTLE language acquisition requirement. Always be sure to register on Frontline and follow District and BTA guidelines.

Science of Reading Fundamentals  SUNY New Paltz Microcredential and Inservice Course (2 credits and 35 CTLE hours)

When:  January 17, 2025 - July 17, 2025   45 Hours of Asynchronous Time on Task -   You have up to 6 months to complete this course

Description: The Science of Reading Fundamentals introduces innovative, evidence-based tools and concepts that are a valuable complement to any P-12 literacy curriculum and a useful starting point for anyone interested in the latest research about how children learn to read.

This curriculum includes units on Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Vocabulary and Comprehension. Modules are supplemented by a series of expert webinars presented by SUNY Science of Reading Center of Excellence.

The Science of Reading Fundamentals microcredential is a 45-hour, asynchronous online course focused on the building blocks of evidence-based literacy education. Participants will gain familiarity with innovative, validated tools, concepts, and practices, grounded in the latest research about how children learn to read. This course is comprised of five fully online, asynchronous modules. Each module focuses on a specific topic related to the five pillars of effective reading instruction.

Details: This course is a fully online, self-paced microcredential created by award-winning SUNY New Paltz School of Education faculty. Once you have been approved on Frontline, you will be given a code unique to Baldwin. Then, you log in and begin the course. You will have up to 6 months to complete the coursework. Once you have done so successfully, you will be issued a Microcredential Certificate from SUNY New Paltz. The Science of Reading microcredential course from New Paltz has also been approved for 2 in-service credits. Teachers will need to complete all assignments and pass the assessments as outlined by New Paltz to receive the microcredential.  You will need to present the microcredential in order to receive the 2 in-service credits.

Artificial Intelligence Essentials for Educators

Description: Generative artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to support teachers, design learning activities, utilize resources, and draft student feedback. During this in-service course, teachers will gain a foundational understanding of AI’s principles, ethical dimensions, and its collaborative power to innovate learning experiences. Teachers will learn how to utilize AI chatbots and assistants integrated within instructional technologies to produce a variety of learning materials, draft individualized student feedback, and analyze educational data for informed decision-making.(1 Inservice Credit and 15 CTLE hours)

Blended Learning Strategies

Instructor: Michele Kourie

When: Mondays: Mondays 2/24, 3/3, 3/10, Tuesday 3/25, and Monday 3/31 4:00-7:00pm

Description: This course is designed to help teachers plan, design, and facilitate classroom instruction using blended learning strategies. During the course teachers will learn about different blended learning models including station rotation, whole group rotation, flipped learning, and the playlist model. Teachers will learn how to use learning management systems (Google Classroom and Canvas) to design these blended learning activities using instructional technology tools.
