Baldwin High School Can ‘Count on’ the Mathletes Team

Baldwin High School Can ‘Count on’ the Mathletes Team

Students Excel at Annual Nassau Math Tournament

The Baldwin High School Mathletes team, led by advisors Ms. Stacey Levine and Ms. Rina Adams, recently competed in the annual Nassau Math Tournament held at Hofstra University.

This year, 22 Baldwin students represented the district and participated in three challenging events: grade-level competitions, Mathletics, and a team challenge. The tournament brought together more than 600 student mathematicians from across Nassau County for a day of academic competition and collaboration.

Both advisors, Ms. Levine and Ms. Adams, shared how proud they were of this year’s team. “The Mathletes are extremely dedicated and work incredibly hard, and we are honored to serve as their coaches,” they said.

The Mathletes Club provides students with opportunities to participate in various competitions across Long Island, challenging them to solve complex math problems in a timed environment.

The high school is especially proud to congratulate senior Luna Questelles, who placed in the “Top 20” among all Nassau County seniors in individual scoring.

“Opportunities like the Nassau Math Tournament allow students to apply their mathematical thinking in meaningful and competitive ways,” said Ms. Jamie Abbi-Handler, mathematics supervisor for grades 6-12. “Luna’s top 20 finish is an outstanding achievement, and the entire team represented our school with enthusiasm, confidence, and academic excellence.”

Baldwin High School Principal Dr. Neil Testa was also impressed with the results. “So proud of our Baldwin Mathletes! This proves that we are strong not just in body and spirit, but in mind as well,” he said.
