Baldwin High School Hosts Third Annual School2Career Showcase

Baldwin High School recently hosted the third annual School2Career Showcase, celebrating the work of students enrolled in the Senior Experience and Internship programs. The event highlighted the Baldwin Union Free School District’s commitment to future-driven learning by giving students the opportunity to share the knowledge, skills, and professional growth they gained through authentic, real-world experiences. The unique learning experience aligns with the district’s Future Ready Competencies: Critical Thinking, Creativity, Communication, Collaboration, Character, and Civics.

The Senior Experience course provides students with hands-on learning through a combination of internships, Leaving2Learns, and interdisciplinary coursework that bridges classroom instruction with future careers. During the showcase, students presented their capstone projects and reflected on the meaningful experiences they gained while working alongside professionals in their fields of interest throughout the school year. Professional placements included NYU Langone Health, local architecture firms, Senator Bynoe’s Office as well as the Office of Legislator Debra Mulé.

Students participating in the Internship course also spoke about their experiences through exhibit-style presentations, demonstrating the confidence, professionalism, and career readiness they developed throughout the school year. The high school seniors participated in programs like the Nassau County Police Academy or the Cradle of Aviation.

“The School2Career Showcase is the culminating event of a year-long program that provides students with transformative learning opportunities, preparing them for the next stage of their lives after high school,” said Dr. Gabriella Franza, Assistant Director for Instructional Programs. “This truly innovative educational experience is made possible by the dedication of our teachers—Christopher Soupios, Christopher Russo, Jason Rudish, and Brendan Malin—who oversee every aspect of the program, from curriculum development to securing industry placements. Their commitment and expertise are instrumental in making the School2Career program such a meaningful and successful experience for our students.”

The event left a lasting impression on attendees, which included district administrators and faculty, families, mentors, business partners, and community members. One guest shared, “I was beyond impressed with the students and the work they accomplished over the year. This is truly an amazing program that is shaping and changing lives, and I’m happy to support it whenever you need me in the future.” Another family member was so inspired by the students’ presentations that she was moved to tears.

The Baldwin High School seniors walked away from the showcase with more confidence, invaluable professional skills, and a clearer vision for their future, demonstrating the lasting impact of Baldwin’s commitment to career-connected learning.

Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Anthony Mignella, was especially proud. “The School2Career Showcase highlighted the power of authentic learning and the incredible impact of collaboration among our educators, staff, and community partners,” he shared. “Through these meaningful experiences, Baldwin students were able to apply their learning, develop future-ready skills, and showcase their talents. We are grateful to everyone who helped make this event a success and for their continued commitment to student achievement.”
