Joellena Miller Among Nassau County Seniors Recognized

Joellena Miller was among the fifty-four seniors selected as recipients of the $250 senior scholarship awards by the Art Supervisors Association (ASA) during the 22nd annual All-County Art Exhibition in March at W.T. Clarke High School.

ASA, a professional organization of art supervisors and administrators, is dedicated to promoting high-quality art instruction across all educational levels while providing a platform for discussions about art and art education. Each year, ASA organizes the All-County Art Exhibit, featuring more than 1,200 outstanding pieces of artwork created by K-12 students from Nassau County school districts.

This year, a total of 39 Baldwin students participated in the annual exhibition, where students across Nassau County representing every grade displayed work in painting, drawing, photography and sculpting. The district is especially proud to see Joellena selected for this distinguished honor.

“Joellena Miller is an outstanding artist in Baldwin High School's AP Drawing class,” stated her art teacher, Ms. Michelle Liemer-Kelly. “Her portfolio focuses on overconsumption in our present society. She was awarded the All-County Art Scholarship due to her passion, discipline, and extraordinary talent displayed throughout her senior year in Baldwin's visual art program.”

According to Ms. Liemer-Kelly, Joellena plans to pursue a career in architecture and has committed to attending City College this fall to study the field.
