Baldwin High School Students Embark on Shadow Day at Bloomberg

Baldwin High School Students Embark on Shadow Day at Bloomberg

Global Business Academy Students Get Hands-on, Professional Experience

Students from Baldwin High School spent an enriching and engaging Shadow Day at Bloomberg’s global headquarters at 731 Lexington Avenue. After checking in and receiving their badges, they were welcomed upstairs for a guided tour of the building, including an inside look at the Bloomberg Newsroom.

Dr. Gabriella Franza, assistant director of instructional programs, said of the “Leaving2Learn,” “This experience truly reflects the mission of School2Career by giving students the chance to engage with real professionals, explore a dynamic workplace, and envision new possibilities for their future. Watching the Baldwin High School students immerse themselves in the Bloomberg environment underscored the lasting impact of meaningful experiential learning.”

The group continued the experience over lunch, where students participated in a thoughtful Q&A session with Bloomberg staff. In the afternoon, they received a hands-on introduction to the Bloomberg Terminal, learning how it is used by professionals around the world.

Throughout the day, students also gained insight into Bloomberg Philanthropy and the company’s broader mission to create positive global change. They left with a deeper understanding of the industry and an appreciation for the many opportunities available within the Bloomberg community.

"Students truly enjoyed exploring the many career paths available at Bloomberg and learning how the company supports and accommodates its employees in all aspects," said Baldwin High School business teacher, Mr. Jason Rudish.

Mr. Brendan Malin, who is also a business teacher at Baldwin High School, shared how invaluable that day's experience was even for him. "Being a part of this Bloomberg experience was incredible," he said. "Seeing how data, news, and tech all come together showed our students how advanced the world has truly become."
