Baldwin Middle School Hosts Anti-Bullying Week

Baldwin Middle School Hosts Anti-Bullying Week

Students, Grades 6-8, Unite to Promote Inclusivity

October has been designated as National Bullying Prevention Month—a time to recognize the profound impact bullying can have on children and families, including school avoidance, diminished self-esteem, heightened anxiety, and depression.

To coincide with this awareness month, Baldwin Middle School staff organized their own unique Anti-Bullying Week in October, where students and staff participated in spirit days, classroom activities and community-building events to promote kindness, respect and unity.

The school takes pride in its dedication to fostering a safe and inclusive environment. Last spring, Baldwin Middle School was designated a No Place for Hate School by the Anti-Defamation League.

“Through our daily interactions, we show that Baldwin Middle School is more than a school, it’s a community built on ‘Care, Kindness, and Respect,’” explained Dr. Erica Taylor, principal of Baldwin Middle School. “We listen with empathy, lead with courage, and stand up for what’s right, even when wrong is popular.”

During the middle school’s Anti-Bullying Week, students wore different articles of clothing to show their support, from sporting orange to signify “We are united!” to dressing like a friend for “You are not alone,” to wearing a pair of your favorite sneakers to signify “We are Self-Aware.” Additionally, a community circle discussion centered on kindness engaged students.

The week culminated with a special assembly, featuring guest speaker, Brad Butler II. Brad is considered one of the best youth motivational speakers today. He discussed his personal struggles and how he was able to overcome numerous hardships and find success.

Baldwin Middle School plans to continue to host events and activities promoting unity and inclusion throughout the year.
