Schools Across Baldwin UFSD Involve the “Dudes” of the Community

Schools Across Baldwin UFSD Involve the “Dudes” of the Community

Elementary Schools and PTAs Organize Events to Encourage Male Participation

In a delightful twist on family involvement, the elementary schools in the Baldwin Union Free School District recently rolled out a series of events that shifted the spotlight on the “dudes” of the family. These initiatives aimed to bring male camaraderie into the heart of school life, creating memorable moments and stronger bonds for Baldwin students.

In honor of National Father Walk Your Child to School Day— a national initiative to promote father and male caregiver involvement in education—Brookside, Meadow, and Lenox each hosted their own events. The PTAs invited all fathers, grandfathers, uncles, brothers, uncles, and other male role models to accompany their children to school.

The turnout at these events was substantial! It was a morning filled with sweet treats, big smiles and unforgettable bonding time.

Over at Plaza Elementary School, this year the “Plaza Dads” decided to take center stage in Baldwin High School’s Homecoming parade. Amidst the cheerleaders and drummers, they marched together as vital supporters of their children as well as the “Plaza family.”

“Plaza Dads and Dudes showed up at the Homecoming parade unified and dressed for success with their Plaza D.A.D.S. T-Shirts,” explained Mr. Mark Gray, principal of Plaza Elementary School, who marched alongside them. “Along with their children and supporting family, we had over 85 members march around the track!”

Together, these events are a testament to the district’s mission to build an involved and supportive community. The Baldwin “dudes” left their mark and helped the school year get off to a spectacular start.
