Baldwin UFSD Appoints New Athletic Director

The Baldwin Union Free School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Joseph Braico as its new Director of Physical Education, Health Education and Athletics, effective July 1, 2026. Mr. Braico was appointed by the Baldwin Board of Education following a comprehensive and highly competitive search process.

Mr. Braico brings more than 20 years of experience in athletic administration and education to Baldwin, including more than a decade of district-level leadership in the Plainview-Old Bethpage School District. In his most recent role, he oversaw programs serving more than 900 student-athletes across more than 100 teams and gained extensive experience supporting coaches, strengthening athletic programs and promoting student wellness, character development and academic achievement.

Throughout his career, Mr. Braico has led programs that achieved significant success at the county, regional and state levels while earning multiple New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) School of Distinction and School of Excellence recognitions. A collaborative and student-centered leader, he values strong partnerships among students, staff, families and the greater school community.

Mr. Braico succeeds Mr. Drew Cronin, who retired at the conclusion of the 2025-26 school year following many years of dedicated service to Baldwin’s students, staff and athletic community. Mr. Cronin’s leadership, commitment to student-athletes and unwavering support of Baldwin’s programs have left a lasting impact on the district.
