Mr. André H. Poprilo Named Baldwin High School’s New Principal

Baldwin Union Free School District proudly appointed Mr. André H. Poprilo principal of Baldwin High School, effective July 1, 2026, after he served the Baldwin Union Free School District for more than 11 years as director of fine and performing arts. During his tenure, he provided K-12 leadership for the district's arts programs, supervising and evaluating staff, leading curriculum development initiatives, managing budgets and operations, and cultivating strong partnerships among educators, families, and community organizations. His leadership strengthened instructional programs across all seven schools while expanding opportunities for thousands of Baldwin students.

Mr. Poprilo brings more than two decades of educational experience as a teacher, building administrator, and district leader. Prior to joining Baldwin UFSD, he served as District Coordinator of Fine Arts, Performing Arts and Foreign Language for the Wappingers Central School District, as well as Assistant Principal and District Coordinator of Fine and Technical Arts in the Copiague School District.

A dedicated educational leader, Mr. Poprilo is recognized for his collaborative leadership style, student-centered approach, and commitment to academic excellence. His deep understanding of the Baldwin community and district priorities positions him to build upon Baldwin High School's strong tradition of success while fostering a culture of excellence, belonging, and opportunity where every student is empowered to thrive and graduate prepared for college, careers, and life.

Mr. Poprilo holds a Master of Science degree from Touro College and both a Master of Music and Bachelor of Music from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam.
