AASA in Conjunction with Sourcewell Award Baldwin UFSD $2500 Mini Grant
District Among 16 Winners Nation Wide to Be Selected
The Baldwin Union Free School District (UFSD) is proud to announce that it has been selected as a recipient of the AASA, The School Superintendents Association, 2025 Helping Kids Mini Grant. This initiative, supported by Sourcewell, aims to enhance educational facilities and improve learning experiences across school districts nationwide.
Baldwin UFSD has been awarded $2,500 to procure state-of-the-art CNC Router Machines for the Technology Department based on a selective application process. The advanced computer-controlled cutting tools will enable Baldwin High School students to carve and shape various materials, including wood, plastic, metal, and foam, through precise digital programming. The introduction of this technology represents a significant shift from traditional manufacturing methods, promoting collaborative group work and innovative project-based learning in the classroom.
Dr. Shari Camhi, Superintendent of Schools for Baldwin UFSD, expressed her enthusiasm about the grant. "We are proud to be among the winners of Sourcewell/AASA’s Helping Kids Mini Grant program, which will allow Baldwin High School’s Technology Department to acquire state-of-the-art CNC router machines,” she stated. “The new technology will enhance our curriculum across multiple disciplines, including woodworking, engineering, and robotics. With these new tools, we can better prepare our students for the future of manufacturing and design.”
AASA’s executive director, David R. Schuler, emphasized the importance of this program in supporting public school districts. “AASA is thrilled to be able to support public school districts. We pride ourselves as the premier national organization of service for the education community, and it’s part of our fabric to help provide opportunities for districts to better themselves and their communities,” he remarked. He also acknowledged Sourcewell’s crucial role in facilitating this program.
Baldwin UFSD is committed to fostering an innovative learning environment that equips students with the skills necessary for success in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
