Baldwin High School Student Athletes Receive Full Scholarships to Their University of Choice
Sariah Doresca and Payton Dulin Recruited for College-Level Sports
The Baldwin Union Free School District (UFSD) Athletics Department recently celebrated two senior student-athletes who have committed to playing for a college-level sports team. Track star, Sariah Doresca, signed her college commitment letter of intent for Stanford University, while basketball star, Payton Dulin, was accepted into George Washington University. Both students received full scholarships.
Sariah made Baldwin High School history by winning the 55-meter dash in a school record time of 7.02 seconds in 2023. She won the state championship in the 4x200 meter dash and also won the state championship in the 55-meter dash. While she has expressed pride in representing Baldwin on the track, she also aims to achieve academic success equivalent to her athletic accomplishments, as she intends to pursue a future in medicine.
Payton is a 6-year member of the girls varsity basketball team, serving as team captain for 3 years. Throughout her high school career, she has received numerous accolades, including All County three times and All State. Payton's talent and hard work have earned her the title of Nassau County Player of the Year twice. Payton has won County Championships, Long Island Championships and has made it to the State finals.
A "Signing Day" ceremony was organized for each student, showcasing Baldwin High School athletes as they signed their “National Letter of Intent.” The occasion was attended by family members, coaches, Principal Dr. Neil Testa, and Mr. Drew Cronin, the interim director of physical education, health education, health services, and athletics. The afternoon celebration concluded with refreshments and photo opportunities for families, friends, and staff.
