Baldwin High School Student Wins Liberty's Media Contest

Baldwin High School Student Wins Liberty's Media Contest

Fahiem Jenkins Places 1st with Original Video Message

Baldwin High School, junior, Fahiem Jenkins, recently placed first in Liberty's High School Media Contest. Jenkins’ exceptional video on water conservation won him top choice in a public vote after becoming one of two finalists.

“I’m incredibly proud of Fahiem for winning Liberty's Media Contest with a powerful message on water conservation,” said Gabriella Franza, Ed.D., assistant director of instructional programs for Baldwin UFSD. “His creativity and passion for protecting our planet is truly inspiring.”

Liberty New York Water’s video contest aimed to engage students in grades 9-12 within the Liberty service areas. The contest offered students a unique chance to showcase their artistic skills and raise awareness about water conservation. Aspiring filmmakers and environmental advocates were encouraged to start filming and make a positive impact in their communities.

Students could enter individually or as part of a team. To ensure fairness, the submissions had to meet specific criteria, including to be under one minute in length. The finalists were selected based on creative vision, artistic talent, and the effectiveness of conveying the water conservation theme. The top three videos received gift card prizes of $500, $250, and $100, respectively.

Fahiem is currently in the high school’s New Media Academy as well as the Youth Change Leaders Collaborative (YCLC).
