Baldwin Schools Spread Holiday Cheer
From Toys to Mittens and Gift Cards, Oh My!
This holiday season, acts of giving have been plentiful in Baldwin schools. A few examples of such philanthropy happening across the district are as follows:
Lenox Elementary School's student council and their advisors, Mrs. Maureen Heyman and Mrs. Jennifer Finucane, organized a holiday toy drive for the John Theissen Children's Foundation. Lenox families showered the community with new, unwrapped toys ready to light up the faces of children all over Long Island.
Meadow Elementary School hosted various charitable events, including a Pajama Day organized by the Student Council, where students donated a dollar to wear PJs, where proceeds went to the Pajama Program. Additionally, the ‘Wintergram’ event allowed students to send a card and Hershey kiss for a dollar to help benefit Building Homes for Heroes.
Plaza Elementary School held a “Dollars for Denim” fundraiser. Coordinated by social worker Mrs. Annette Sollitto, the donations were used to purchase gift cards for local families in need to help them this holiday season.
Students from the Baldwin Middle School Bruin Singers went caroling at the Atlantic Nursery in Baldwin to lift spirits and spread holiday cheer with their voices.
Baldwin High School held a pajama drive to give to EJ’s PJ’s to help children in need.
The Baldwin High School Mentor Program launched the "Pins of Positivity" initiative, where students created personalized pins for patients at Northwell LIJ Valley Stream. These pins, which will be distributed in the new year, serve as a heartwarming reminder of the kindness and care our students bring to the community.
Since the fall, the district has collected more than $3000 in funds for various charities and Baldwin families as well as countless ‘goods’ to support those in need.
