Baldwin UFSD Hosts Unity Day

Baldwin UFSD Hosts Unity Day

Fifth Graders Across Five Elementary Schools Become Acquainted Before Middle School

Unity Day, a cherished annual tradition in the Baldwin Union Free School District, gathered over 300 fifth graders from all five elementary schools to participate in various activities from kickball to basketball to soccer on the field and gymnasium of Baldwin High School. Students were grouped into teams identified by colors such as blue, orange, red, black, purple, green, and gray, promoting camaraderie and friendly competition. This occasion offered a unique opportunity for students who will soon transition to middle school to connect and form initial friendships. The atmosphere was vibrant with cheers and laughter, as students engaged in sports and shared lunch, during which they listened to an inspiring speech by Dr. Erica Taylor.

Baldwin High School students, volunteering their time and enthusiasm, significantly contributed to the success of Unity Day by assisting in team staffing and leadership. Their dedication and leadership were crucial to the seamless execution of the day, and their efforts were warmly recognized by all. The event exemplified the strong community spirit within the Baldwin UFSD and underscored the importance of such initiatives in facilitating the transition from elementary to middle school.
