Jerome Wallace Honored by Jewish Community Relations Council
Baldwin High School Junior Recognized with “Students Building Bridges Award”
The Jewish Community Relations Council – Long Island (JCRC-LI), in collaboration with Nassau County’s State Senate Delegation, recently recognized Baldwin High School student, Jerome Wallace, with the 2025 Students Building Bridges Award. This award celebrates his commitment to fostering connections across communities and cultivating a more civil society. Each recipient received a certificate of recognition for their valuable contributions and community service. Jerome was nominated by his school counselor, Meghan Schlosser.
The Baldwin High School junior was selected for their exemplary role as leaders in Baldwin, showcasing dedication to service and efforts to enhance understanding among diverse groups.
For the past two years, Jerome has been a “buddy” in the STAR (students that are rising) Club, which is an extra-curricular activity for life skills students to interact with their peers and participate in fun events.
According to Ms. Schlosser, Jerome demonstrates “an unmatched level of kindness, patience, and understanding.”
“As the STAR Club advisor, I have personally witnessed Jerome’s positive interactions with these students, and his ability to make each one feel valued and supported is truly inspiring,” she wrote in her letter of recommendation.
In addition, he interns with the Consortia for Learning and Service to Special Populations (CLASSP), where he expands his knowledge of working with special needs populations and agencies.
On top of his involvement with the STAR club, Jerome is the vice-president of Key Club and treasurer of the high school’s Student Government. He is also a member of the Varsity Tennis and Wrestling teams, the Art Club, and DECA, where he channels his talents and energy into various initiatives.
Serving as a role model, Jerome mentors freshmen students and motivates his peers through his commitment to both academics and extracurricular pursuits. His dedication to service goes beyond Baldwin’s school community. He has volunteered over 60 hours, reading to young children at the local library and helping younger tennis players enhance their skills. In addition, he works 12 hours a week at a local real estate firm and contributes to Pixery Labs.
Jerome was recently recognized along with the other honorees during an awards ceremony with officials from JCRC-LI.
