Long Island Business Teachers' Association Names Michele Leonardo “Outstanding New Teacher of the Year”

The Long Island Business Teachers' Association has named Michele Leonardo “Outstanding New Teacher of the Year” for her significant contributions to business education. Each year, the Long Island Business Teachers' Association recognizes outstanding students and teachers in the business education community across the island. Michele, who started with Baldwin UFSD this past September, has become an integral part of the Business Department at Baldwin High School, working diligently both inside and outside of the classroom.

Ms. Leonardo finds innovative approaches to help her students connect the curriculum to their own daily lives. Her lessons are timely, and she utilizes technology to enhance student engagement in the lesson, as well as, to boost their skills with working with computers. Additionally, Ms. Leonardo works extremely hard to make the Life Skills class relevant and easily accessible. Overall, she plans each lesson with care and professionalism, always keeping in mind what a student entering the business world would need to know.

The Long Island Business Teachers' Association will honor Ms. Leonardo at a luncheon on May 22.
