MENTOR New York Highlights Plaza's Mentoring Program Through Video Feature
Twenty years ago, MENTOR New York partnered with Baldwin Union Free School District (UFSD) to create a mentoring program. Since then, mentoring has impacted thousands of young lives. MENTOR New York decided to highlight Baldwin UFSD’s mentoring program, focusing on Plaza Elementary School, where three fifth graders are embarking on their second year in the district's mentoring program.
The organization created a video featuring interviews with the students, their mentors/teachers, Rina Hartigan and Juliana Rashwan, as well as Pat Banhazl, who has led the coordination of the mentoring program since the beginning. These students are among the 70,000 young people that MENTOR New York has been able to reach. The video premiered at the 23rd Annual Mentoring Benefit at the Garden City Country Club.
