Baldwin High School Designated a Best High School for 2020

The Baldwin Union Free School District is pleased to announce that Baldwin High School was among the 2,053 New York State High schools placed in the U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools rankings for this year.

“We are thrilled to be recognized as one of the “Best High Schools for 2020,” as this is a tremendous honor for our district and community,” said Dr. Shari L. Camhi, Superintendent of Schools for Baldwin Union Free School District. “The U.S. News and World Report designation speaks to the level of hard work and dedication of our administration, faculty, staff, students, and families. We continuously aim to be a leader and innovator in education and to ensure that all of our students are future ready. I am so proud that our high school has received this distinction.”

Baldwin High School ranked 383rd among 2,053 high schools throughout New York state, which is the top 20%.

Data from 4,789 New York-based schools was collected and the rankings were based on the school’s performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college. The highest ranked U.S. public schools in the U.S. News & World Report's 2020 Best High Schools rankings are those whose attendees demonstrated outstanding outcomes above expectations in math and reading state assessments, passed a diverse array of college-level exams and graduated in high proportions.

With a graduation rate of 97%, the high school was also designated a 2019-2020 New York State Recognition School by the New York State Education Department. Some of the high school’s unique and award-winning programs comprise its signature Academic Academies – a specialized school to career program – a community college partnership, Virtual Enterprise, AP courses, as well as nationally recognized arts and athletics. In 2019-2020, a total of 1250 students were enrolled in the school-to-career program, while nearly 860 students took AP classes, helping to further solidify college- and career- readiness upon graduation. The district has been visited by educational leaders from across the country due to the success and innovativeness of its programs and instruction.
