Baldwin Illuminated Brings Life Back to Old Brick Exteriors

Students’ Self-Produced Work Projected onto District Office Facade

Baldwin Union Free School District recently hosted a unique event for the community. Known as “Projection Mapping,” the free light show projected student-produced work in the areas of fine arts and English language arts onto the district’s building exteriors. Often seen in popular festivals and other places of entertainment, such as Napa Valley, Disney World, and Paris, France, this type of exhibition was the first of its kind to take place in a school district. All of the life-size content was created by high school students using a combination of mixed media, painting, experimental photography and graphic design. Some English language arts students penned and narrated powerful six word memoirs, while others explored their heritage through originally written “Where I Am From” poems and mission statements.
