Brookside, Lenox, and Plaza Elementary Schools Recognized by Character.org
Only 264 Schools World-Wide Receive “Promising Practice Certification”
The Baldwin Union Free School District is pleased to announce that Character.org has recognized two Baldwin elementary schools with the 2020 Promising Practice designation: Plaza for its Jitsu program and Brookside for its "Soccer with the Principal" program. Plaza was also recognized as a National School of Character in 2018.
Promising Practices are unique, effective and replicable character practices that inspire good character firsthand and directly align with Character.org’s 11 Principles Framework. For 2020, the non-profit organization certified 264 Promising Practices to organizations and schools from across the United States – as well as from Brazil, Colombia, Haiti, Mexico, and Uganda that foster character development in children and teens.
In addition, Lenox Elementary School has been named a 2020 Emerging State School of Character. Last year, Meadow Elementary School also joined the ranks as a 2019 National School of Character, while the school’s club, “Character C.O.U.N.T.S.,” was the only program in New York to be recognized as a 2019 Promising Practice.
