Baldwin High School Athletes Among Newday's Top 100 Basketball Players
Basketball Players Honored
Eight Baldwin High School students were recently honored with a Nassau County citation from local politiians for being among Newsday’s 2021 top 100 basketball players. The student-athletes recognized were Dallysshya Moreno, Jasigha Barnes, Jeffrey Douby, Joshua Minton, Laila Elor, Milan Johnson, Nayeli Dowding, Shania Iglesias.

Jasigha Barnes, Baldwin, F/G, Sr.
Barnes transfers back to Baldwin after two years at Lawrence Woodmere Academy. He averaged 13.3 points last year and will be a focal point for the Bruins. An unselfish playmaker, Barnes played his freshman year at Baldwin.
Jeff Douby, Baldwin, C, Sr.
Douby averaged five points and five rebounds last year for the Nassau Class AA champions after transferring from Portledge. He is an aggressive shot blocker and rebounder who can finish at the rim.
Milan Johnson, Baldwin, G, Sr.
He averaged 8.5 points over four games at Comsewogue last year, but he will make an immediate impact at Baldwin this winter after an injury-plagued season. He can create for others and shoot from anywhere.
Joshua Minton, Baldwin, SG/SF, Sr.
He averaged eight points and three rebounds following his transfer from St. Mary’s. He will take on a more featured offensive role for the Nassau Class AA champions this year.

"Top 100 Girls Basketball Players"
Nayeli Dowding, Baldwin, G, Sr.
A four-year varsity starter and a team captain in her senior season, Dowding is a sharpshooter who had 18 points against Ward Melville last year.
Laila Elor, Baldwin, G, Sr.
The senior is an elite defender who plays with tremendous energy. She averaged 7.2 points, including 16 against East Meadow last season, and will take on a leadership role.
Shania Iglesias, Baldwin, PG, Sr.
The Bruins' starting point guard is a talented scorer and passer. She will have her hand in all parts of the defending Nassau Class AA champion’s offense this season. She scored a season-high 11 points against East Meadow last year.
Dallysshya Moreno, Baldwin, F, Soph.
The dynamic forward is a shot blocker who is being recruited by Division I programs, according to coach Tom Catapano. She averaged nine points per game, including 18 points and 12 rebounds against Freeport.
