Baldwin High School AP Drawing student, Jordan Brand, recently took home an “Award of Excellence” for his painting in the Long Island Art League’s 14th annual Go APE Advanced Placement Virtual Exhibition. Only fourteen out of 100 Advance Placement students received this accolade.
The Art League of Long Island is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to broad-based visual arts education, providing a forum and showcase for artists of all ages and ability levels. Since its inception in 1955, the mission has focused on enhancing Long Island’s cultural life by promoting the appreciation, practice and enjoyment of the visual arts. The annual “Go APE” Advanced Placement Student Exhibition features select 2-D and 3-D works by 124 AP and IB Art students from Long Island high schools, serving as an opportunity for what may be the first of many times these promising young art students show their artwork in a professional gallery setting, albeit virtual for 2021. The virtual exhibit was on view on the Art League’s website at www.artleagueli.org from March 15 to April 9.
