Baldwin UFSD Athletics Hosts “Signing Day” for Senior Bruins

Class of 2022 Athletes Commit to Various College Sports Teams

The Baldwin Union Free School District (UFSD) Athletics Department recently hosted “Signing Day” for the senior student-athletes who have committed to playing for a college-level sports team. Various sports were represented among the 13 seniors who have chosen to continue their path in athletics. The event featured the Baldwin High School athletes signing their “national letter of intent” alongside family members, coaches, Principal Dr. Neil Testa and Superintendent Dr. Shari L. Camhi. The Director of Physical Education, Health Education, Health Services and Athletics for Baldwin UFSD, Eduardo Ramirez, helped organize and host the occasion.

“We are extremely proud of this year’s senior student-athletes and what they have accomplished,” said Mr. Ramirez. “They are role models and an example of what can happen with hard work, commitment, sacrifice and balancing athletics and academics. This is the end of one chapter and the start of another. College signing is not the goal, it is a checkpoint that lets you know you are doing things the right way. We encourage them to continue this path as they head off to college. Remember they are not leaving Baldwin, they take Baldwin and everything they have learned here with them. We are confident they will succeed at whatever they pursue in life. We wish them nothing but the best and we thank them for allowing us to witness and be of their greatness.”

The afternoon celebration culminated with refreshments and picture opportunities for families, friends, and staff.
