Award-Winning “Baldwin Bruins Sports Podcast” Now in Fourth Year
Baldwin High School Students Start 2022-2023 Season
The Baldwin Bruins Sports Podcast is back for its fourth season! This year’s team consists of co-hosts Aaron Bell, 11th grade, and Ava Reyer, 12th grade, as well as producer and editor, Joey Fullone, 12th grade. The podcast focuses on Baldwin High School sports, encompassing interviews with athletes, coaches, administrators from the Baldwin Union Free School District, as well as experts in the field. Discussions about the past week’s games will also take place. Baldwin High School is the only school on Long Island to host a podcast focused on this topic and format.
In fact, due to its innovativeness, the Press Club of Long Island awarded the Baldwin Bruins Sports Podcast 1st Place in the “Best High School Broadcast” category two years in a row. Additionally, the podcast won “Best Podcast” in the Arts and Entertainment category of the annual “Best of Long Island 2022” competition hosted by Bethpage Federal Credit Union.
Initially launched as a senior internship back in the fall of 2019, due to its ongoing success, Mr. Gregg Kelley, a business teacher at the high school, has continued the podcast with new student volunteers as an extracurricular activity. Each spring, a committee that includes Mr. Kelley and the podcast staff from the previous year, hold an interview process to select the incoming staff.
About the New Team
Aaron Bell is a junior at Baldwin High School and a four-year varsity lacrosse athlete. He is a proud member of the Athletes Helping Athletes (AHA) club. He is also a legacy to the podcast as his older brother, Isaiah, served as co-host two years ago.
Baldwin High School senior, Ava Reyer, is a three-year varsity volleyball athlete and captain. She has won the all-conference honorable mention award and, like Aaron, is an active participant of AHA. Outside of her enormous dedication to volleyball, she also loves to perform in theater productions in her free time.
Senior, Joey Fullone, has been playing for the Bruins baseball team for two years, last year on varsity. In addition, he was the manager for the boys varsity basketball team last year.
